Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in Hilo, Hawaii, requiring a minimum of 2 years of med/surg experience and an active Hawaii RN license.

Details

• Hospital-based Medical unit with 50 beds
• Adult med/surg patient population (ages 18 and over)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
• Floating may be required to surgical, pediatric, or transitional care units
• Variable shift schedule with day or night shift availability (TBD); must be flexible with various shift lengths and days
• 36 hours per week scheduled (following orientation week)
• Meditech EMR and Pyxis in use
• Equipment includes wound vacs, chest tubes, and related med/surg tools

Requirements

• Active Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment; candidates without one must apply upon acceptance of offer
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of med/surg or higher-level acute care experience required
• Must be flexible with variable shift lengths and scheduling

Additional Information

• All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to the start of assignment; this appointment is scheduled at the facility's Employee Health department and attendance is mandatory — plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start to attend the Friday morning appointment
• Orientation is included during the first full week of the assignment
• Professional nursing attire required; no specific scrub color requirement; closed-toe shoes required
• No holiday RTO requests will be accommodated
• 15-week contract
