Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, ventilator competency, and a fixed weekend day shift schedule.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes respiratory distress, cardiovascular disorders, substance abuse, and post-surgical patients requiring closer monitoring
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4
• Specialized procedures include telemetry monitoring, occasional arterial lines (A-lines), BiPAP, and ventilator management
• Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) on a fixed weekend schedule (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), with the opportunity to extend to a 4-day schedule (Friday through Monday)
• Charting and medication administration via Meditech and Omnicell
• Floating is required; may work as a monitor tech if census is low or float to another area within competency — this is reported to be very rare
• Blocked scheduling with potential changes based on unit needs

Requirements

• Active RN license in NC or a compact state currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Ventilator experience required
• Must pass an EKG competency test prior to start

Additional Information

• Charge nurse experience is preferred
• Unit orientation is 24 hours
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Local candidates are accepted
