Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week ICU travel assignment at a Level II Trauma facility, requiring at least 2 years of ICU experience and active NE or Compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Acute care ICU setting at a Level II Trauma facility with 33 beds and an average daily census of 16
  • Adult patient population including trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adult patients
  • RNs are required to titrate drips, including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
  • RNs are required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips; GE monitor brand with tele tech oversight
  • Ventilator and respiratory equipment management from nasal cannula to full ventilator support
  • EMR: Epic
  • 12-hour night shifts (1830–0630)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Minimum of 2 holidays falling within the contract period required
  • Floating to PCU and occasionally Med/Surg at ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
  • If placed on call and called back in, must be able to arrive within 30 minutes

Requirements

  • Active NE or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses not accepted
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS; pending certifications not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Experience with titrating drips (cardiac, insulin, sedation) required
  • Driver's license required for consideration and used to verify residence is at least 50 miles from the facility
  • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; refusal to remove nails will result to contract termination

Additional Information

  • Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Candidates may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity; candidates who were employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
  • Unit-specific orientation consists of 1 shift
  • A pass/fail open-book skills exam is administered during orientation on Wednesdays; a score of 90% or higher is required to pass — failure to pass results in contract termination
  • Nurse aides are available based on census and may assist with 1:1 sits or general floor support; a Healthcare Support Tech is available 3 days per week (Mon–Fri, 0800–1630)
  • Self-scheduling is available for core staff; travelers are added into the schedule
  • Block scheduling is not approved unless weekends only
  • RTO requests of 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
