Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with 2+ years of experience for a community hospital in Highlands, NC, serving acute, swing bed, skilled nursing, and outpatient settings.

• Position is based in the Rehab Services department of a community hospital in Highlands, NC
• Clinician will work across acute/swing beds, a skilled nursing facility, and outpatient services as needed
• Hospital is stroke-certified and rehabilitation-focused, with the majority of beds being swing bed patients
• Patient ratio is 1:1
• Documentation systems include Cerner and NetHealth
• Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, 40 hours per week; final schedule to be reviewed with the rehab manager during the interview process
• Clinician will be expected to float between acute/swing, nursing home, and outpatient services as indicated
• Facility has 24 acute/swing beds, 40 nursing home beds, and 10 skilled beds within the nursing home
• Any color scrubs or business casual attire is acceptable
• Two outpatient clinics are available for continuum of care

Requirements

• Active OT license (NC license required; license required if applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of experience, with at least 3 years in a medical setting preferred
• Experience in a hospital and/or nursing home setting required
• Active CPR/BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the start date)
• Must have active clinical experience within the last 6 months in the role being applied for
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required if licensed in Florida or Missouri)
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; no local candidates accepted

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include OT evaluations, establishing plans of care, assisting with rounds and care conferences, and frequent communication with the rehab team regarding patient progress, equipment needs, and discharge planning
• Treatment is provided in patient rooms, hallways, outdoor areas, and in the rehab gym
• Clinicians have full access to both the main hospital rehab gym and the nursing home gym
• A new rehab gym is in development, and an outdoor gym is currently being designed
• The nursing home is a 5-star rated facility
• The rehab team (PT/OT/SLP) is described as collaborative and supportive, with a strong focus on best patient care
• No gaps in work history totaling 90 days or more in the past 12 months
