Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg – Urology/Nephrology position at a Level I trauma Magnet hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 2 years of med/surg experience.

Details

• 13-week contract, night shift (3x12), 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Acute care hospital setting – Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility (562 beds)
• Urology/Nephrology Med/Surg unit with an average daily census of 23 on a 25-bed unit
• Patient population includes renal failure, pre/post hemodialysis, and genitourinary cases
• Required procedures and skills include: telemetry/remote monitoring, rapid response team utilization, pre/post hemodialysis management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, IV starts, heparin administration, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula oxygen, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, portable oxygen, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac
• Charting via Cerner (experience required)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to other Med/Surg units and potentially to nearby affiliate hospitals
• No on-call required
• Free parking with permit obtained during orientation

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; must be in hand or actively in the application process
• Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry setting experience required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidate will serve as Charge RN as needed throughout the assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome; candidates should demonstrate a solid Med/Surg nursing foundation
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible to apply as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• RTO requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
• Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required
