Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring at least 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency, working nights on a 42-bed post-surgical unit.

Details

• 42-bed Med/Surg unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults to geriatrics with a focus on post-surgical, orthopedic, urology, colorectal, bariatric, neurological, and general surgery cases
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Local candidates are accepted
• RTO maximum of 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
• Holiday coverage is required: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work two of them and may request one holiday off
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least one full year before returning as a traveler
• No scheduling change requests, alternate shifts, or special schedule accommodations are permitted — the posted shift is firm
• Two supervisory references (manager-level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
• Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration
