Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and active GA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• 10-bed Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) specializing in high-acuity cardiac patients
• Patient population includes adults through geriatrics
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1–2, with a free charge nurse on the unit
• Patients commonly present with LVADs, intra-aortic balloon pumps, Swan-Ganz catheters, temporary pacemakers, femoral and venous sheaths, arterial lines, TR bands, and CRRT
• Intensivist present Monday–Friday with daily multidisciplinary rounds at 10 AM
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility within scope of practice as needed
• No on-call requirements
• EMR: Epic; medication dispensing via Pyxis; SBAR communication framework used

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• CVICU or cardiovascular critical care experience strongly preferred given the unit's specialized patient population
• Proficiency with cardiac drip titration, vasoactive medications, and sedation management for intubated patients

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include titrating cardiac gtts, vasoactive medications, and sedation, as well as monitoring post-procedural patients (e.g., AAA repairs) requiring positional restrictions and close observation
• Effective communication between nurses, physicians, and the multidisciplinary care team is essential in this unit
• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO maximum of 7 days for the contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• RTO blackout dates apply during Spring Break (April 4–12)
• Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Travelers who have previously worked at any facility in this health system must have been away for a full year before returning as a traveler
