Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a float ICU/PCU position requiring comfort across all ICU and PCU units, Epic proficiency, and Level I/II trauma facility experience.

Details

  • Float position covering all ICU and PCU units within an acute care hospital setting
  • Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatrics) affiliated with an academic medical school
  • Magnet-designated facility certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center
  • ICU patient ratio averages 2:1; PCU patient ratio averages 5:1
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12s, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Floating is re-evaluated every 4 hours, meaning candidates may float 2–3 times per shift
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
  • One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Clinical skills required include arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, continuous IV sedation, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, dysrhythmia interpretation, wound care with drains or wound vacs, and IV insulin protocol management

Requirements

  • Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand (pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state)
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Minimum ICU experience required; 2+ years preferred
  • Prior experience at a large Level I or Level II trauma facility required
  • Epic EMR proficiency required
  • Proficiency in IV therapy, respiratory support, cardiac monitoring, vasoactive drip titration, and wound care as detailed in job details
  • PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
  • Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Candidates must be fully comfortable working across all ICU and PCU units, as floating is a core expectation of this role
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of application
  • Facility operates within a 703-bed academic teaching hospital with advanced specialty care and a dedicated children's hospital
