Description

American Traveler is hiring a Cath Lab Technologist for a 13- or 26-week contract at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab settings.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting — Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
  • Cardiac Cath Lab unit with no IR component
  • Patient population includes middle and older adults
  • Procedures include diagnostic and left/right heart catheterizations, PCI, PTCA, cardiac stent placement, cardiac implant closure device, IABP placement/removal, rotablader atherectomy, and scrub procedures
  • Responsibilities include equipment setup, interpretation of dysrhythmias, recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias, and adherence to sterile technique and isolation precautions
  • Charting via Cerner (experience required)
  • 4x12-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM–7:00 PM; 3x12-hour schedule may also be accommodated
  • Candidates will work 2–3 weekends per contract
  • On-call is required on a rotating basis with staff and agency; dedicated call team in place
  • Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers
  • Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab settings
  • Active ARRT and/or RCIS certification required
  • Current ACLS and BLS required; AHA and Red Cross cards accepted — RQI AHA cards are not accepted
  • Cerner EMR experience required
  • Experience with scrub procedures, sterile technique, and isolation precautions
  • Competency with IABP, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, rotablader atherectomy, and cardiac implant closure devices
  • Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and recognize life-threatening arrhythmias
  • Active professional license required at time of consideration — license required if applicable
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Contract length is flexible — candidates may choose a 13- or 26-week assignment
  • Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during their contract
  • RTO of 5 days or fewer is preferred; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
  • Former permanent or PRN employees of the Memorial Hospital System must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Scrubs are provided
  • Parking is available at no cost with a permit obtained during orientation
  • Schedule requests should be discussed with the hiring manager
