Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Surgical Med/Surg Unit position requiring recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 Trauma experience and a NH or compact RN license.

Details

• 32-bed Surgical Unit within a hospital setting, shared with a PCU
• Patient population includes post-operative vascular, thoracic, colorectal, and general surgery cases
• Common diagnoses include ARDS, esophagectomies, Whipple procedures, and sepsis
• RN-to-patient ratio is 4:1 on days and 5:1 on nights
• LNA-to-patient ratio is 1:7–11
• Floating to other units is expected
• 36-hour work week

Requirements

• Active NH or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a Level 1 or comparable Level 2 Trauma setting
• Surgical Med/Surg experience required — candidates without surgical experience will not be considered
• Proficiency with chest tubes, trachs, and laryngectomies required
• Experience managing drips including Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, and amiodarone required
• Experience with lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical patients required
• Telemetry experience required
• Complex wound care experience required
• Central line care, maintenance, and blood draw experience required
• Two references from managers required for consideration
