Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Long Term Care (LTC) position in Seward, Alaska, requiring prior travel nursing experience and an active Alaska RN license in hand.

Details

• Long Term Care (LTC) facility with 40 staffed beds
• Patient ratio of 1:20
• Shift options of 4x12 or 3x12 hours at traveler's choice, available on days (7:00–19:30) or nights (19:00–7:30) — shift assignment based on facility needs at time of start
• Nurses are not routinely asked to rotate between day and night shifts, though occasional exceptions may occur for urgent staffing needs
• Floating required between facilities within the state to meet staffing needs; refusal to float may result in assignment termination
• Contract length is traveler's choice: 13 or 26 weeks
• No on-call requirements
• Charting system: ECS
• Block scheduling is not available

Requirements

• Active Alaska (AK) RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of LTC nursing experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered
• At least 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Valid driver's license and proof of personal vehicle insurance (including rental car coverage) required to operate the facility-provided vehicle
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Additional Information

• All travelers are required to obtain the Alaska Food Worker Certification, which is completed during on-site orientation — there is a one-time $10 fee for this certification
• Any color scrubs are acceptable
• Free parking is available on site
• The facility arranges a vehicle for traveler use during the assignment for local transportation within a 30-mile radius of the facility only — off-road use is not permitted
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
• For a 26-week contract, no more than 2 weeks of RTO will be considered; travelers must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
• All RTO requests must be submitted prior to or at the time of consideration — RTO will not be approved after an offer is made or after signing a contract
