Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg (Ortho) travel assignment requiring at least 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and a TX or compact RN license.

Details

• 36-bed Medical Surgical unit with an ortho focus
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
• Approximately half of all scheduled shifts will fall on weekends
• Floating required to units of equal or lesser acuity
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Required certifications: BLS; ACLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) preferred
• Experience required: Med/Surg, MS/Tele, ortho trauma, total joint replacements, and spinal cord/traumatic brain injury care
• Clinical skills required: colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, port access, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral and PICC line management, phlebotomy, IV starts, Heparin and PCA management, surgical drain care
• Respiratory skills required: HFNC, nasal cannula, oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, and tracheostomy management
• Wound care experience required
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility or within the following counties are not eligible: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris
• Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• RTO is limited to no more than 3 days auto-approved per contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation
