Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical (Urology/Nephrology) position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Springfield, IL, requiring an active IL RN license and a minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting — Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated facility with 562 staffed beds
• Medical Surgical unit specializing in Urology/Nephrology with a 25-bed unit and average daily census of 23
• Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to other Medical Surgical units within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital
• No on-call requirements
• Charting via Cerner EMR
• Free parking available on-site with a parking permit obtained during orientation

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required — pending licensure not accepted
• Active BLS certification required; AHA or Red Cross accepted (RQI AHA cards not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience required
• Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry work setting experience required
• Telemetry/remote monitoring and Rapid Response Team experience required
• Genitourinary/renal experience required, including pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure
• IV therapy skills required: blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting IVs
• Heparin administration experience required
• Respiratory care experience required: chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and portable oxygen
• Additional required skills: isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac
• Cerner EMR experience required
• SSN and date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome, provided they demonstrate a solid foundation as an RN with the required Med/Surg experience
• Local candidates are accepted with no radius restriction
• Any permanent or PRN employee of the Memorial Hospital System must have a 12-month gap in employment before being considered as a traveler
• Travel pairs are not accepted — candidates must apply individually
• RTO requests of 5 days or fewer are generally accommodated; anything beyond 5 days requires facility approval
• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Block scheduling will be considered but is not guaranteed
• Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
