Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Oncology unit at a 5-time Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent oncology experience and both MO and KS (or compact) RN licenses in hand.

Details

  • Inpatient oncology unit at a 456-bed tertiary care, Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-recognized teaching hospital
  • Primary oncology unit treating all cancer types across all phases of care, from workup through completion of therapy
  • Administers inpatient chemotherapy regimens
  • Uro-gyn and gyn-onc surgical population with post-operative care responsibilities
  • Functions as a step-down neuro overflow unit for strokes, head bleeds, and other neurological needs
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:00)
  • 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week scheduling period, with shifts falling on a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • Regular floating may be required between departments, units, and facilities
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Free on-site parking available

Requirements

  • Active RN license in both Missouri (or compact) and Kansas required — both must be in hand prior to consideration, as floating between facilities may require licensure in both states
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent oncology experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred; prior charge RN experience preferred
  • Proficiency in IV therapy and infusions including blood/blood product administration, central line care, port management, and infusion pump management
  • Experience with oncologic emergencies including sepsis management
  • Skilled in telemetry interpretation and monitoring, chest tube care, wound care, foley catheter insertion, and pain management including PCA pump and IV push narcotics
  • Preferred: experience with port access, chemotherapy administration (oral and handling body fluids post-chemo), biotherapy side effect management, and radiation safety precautions
  • Preferred: experience managing oncologic emergencies such as ATLS, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, and hemorrhage
  • 2 professional references required — at least one must be supervisor level or above; the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility are considered local and are not eligible for this position
  • RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the contract
  • No block scheduling available
  • Travel partners are not accepted for this position
  • Completion of facility orientation modules is required prior to the start date (approximately 10–15 hours total)
  • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required as needed by the unit
  • Pending RN license will be accepted for consideration
