Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience and hands-on skills with fresh open heart cases and advanced cardiac devices.

Details

Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of an acute care hospital setting
Patient population includes fresh post-op open heart cases (CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR), ventilated patients, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and patients with chronic and acute renal failure
Patient ratio is 1:1–2; ratios may vary when floating
Charting is done in Epic
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
Every other weekend and applicable holidays required
Floating required to all ICUs, PACU, ED (for ICU holding patients), and all IMC units
Local candidates are accepted at the same rate

Requirements

Active NJ or Compact RN license required
Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
Minimum 2 years of current CVICU experience required; SICU experience with initial CVICU training may be considered
Experience with advanced cardiac devices such as Impella, IABP, and CRRT using Prismax, OR experience with fresh heart cases is required
Required skills include Post-Op Open Heart Recovery, Swan monitoring, FloTrac, temporary pacers, arterial lines, and chest tubes
SSN and DOB required for consideration
Two current professional references required
Previous staff (full-time or PRN) of the RWJBH health system must have been separated from the system for a minimum of 1 year to be eligible

Additional Information

Provide critical care nursing to post-op cardiac surgery and complex cardiovascular patients
All time-off requests and schedule accommodations must be submitted and approved prior to offer
