Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience, fresh heart case proficiency, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring skills.
Details
- Work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of an acute care hospital setting
- Patient population includes fresh post-op cardiac surgery patients (CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR), ventilated patients, chest tube and lumbar drain patients, and patients with chronic and acute renal failure
- Patient ratio is 1:1–2; ratios may vary when floating
- Floating required to all ICUs, PACU, ED (for ICU holding patients), and all IMC units
- Charting via Epic
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
- Every other weekend and applicable holidays required
Requirements
- Active NJ or Compact RN license required
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of current CVICU experience required; candidates with SICU experience and initial CVICU training may be considered
- Experience with post-op open heart recovery, Swan-Ganz catheters, FloTrac monitoring, temporary pacers, arterial lines, and chest tubes required
- Experience with advanced cardiac support devices (Impella, IABP) and CRRT using Prismax, OR experience with fresh heart cases required
- SSN and date of birth required for consideration
- Two current professional references required for consideration
- Copy of certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provides intensive nursing care to post-operative cardiac surgery and critically ill cardiovascular patients
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Any time-off requests or schedule accommodations must be submitted and approved prior to an offer being extended
- Former employees or PRN staff of the RWJBH health system must have been separated from the system for a minimum of 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment
