Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Shock Trauma PACU position requiring an MD or Compact RN license, with night shift availability and on-call obligations.
Details
- Work in a 12-bay Shock Trauma PACU unit within a hospital setting, operating 24/7 year-round
- Patient population includes adults and geriatric patients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgery across more than 20 surgical and procedural services
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
- Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period
- On-call requirement: 1–2 twelve-hour call shifts per 6-week schedule (7:00 AM–7:30 PM or 7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Floating required within the specialty, to other units, and to sister facilities within scope of practice
Requirements
- Active MD State RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Proficiency in titration of vasopressors, airway management, care of ventilated patients, blood product administration, and fluid resuscitation
- Prior PACU or peri-anesthesia nursing experience required
- Trauma care experience strongly applicable given the unit's clinical scope
Additional Information
- This is not a traditional PACU — nurses must be clinically flexible beyond standard peri-anesthesia care, including supporting procedural space and patient overflow from the Trauma Resuscitation Unit
- The unit supports the mission of a premier shock trauma center, providing peri-anesthesia care specializing in traumatic injury management
- Provides pre- and post-operative care to both outpatients and inpatients undergoing scheduled or emergency surgery
- Any time-off requests must be disclosed at the time of initial consideration
