Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Telemetry (M/S Tele) night shift position requiring telemetry strip interpretation skills and an active MA RN license.

Details

• Work on Davenport 8, a 37-bed Medical Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Primary patient diagnoses include CHF, atrial fibrillation, pulmonary embolism, pneumonia, and patients with EtOH and dementia with cardiac co-morbidities; occasional surgical patients
• Patients frequently managed on Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Heparin drips; unit also cares for NSTEMI, post-pacemaker, and post-cardiac cath lab patients
• Night shift RN-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6
• Shift hours are 19:00–07:30 (night shift); night positions do not rotate
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• 36 hours per week
• Floating to applicable units is required when needed
• 13-week contract
• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Active MA RN license required; no pending or conditional licenses accepted
• AHA BLS certification required (AHA only; Red Cross not accepted at this location)
• AHA ACLS certification required (AHA only; Red Cross not accepted at this location)
• Telemetry certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Knowledge of cardiac drips required
• Experience with Epic EMR
• Flu vaccine required; no religious or medical exemptions accepted
• 2 professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

• Nursing care for post-cardiac catheterization and post-pacemaker patients is beneficial but not required
• Patients may be admitted from the ED, transferred from other units, or directly admitted by a physician
• Timekeeping system: UKG/Kronos
