Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a 13-week ICU travel assignment in West Virginia, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and active ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications.

Details

• 4-bed ICU within an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes COVID-pneumonia, post-op (ortho and urology), COPD, CHF, and general ICU/MedSurg-level critical care cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is generally 1:4, with a PCT always present in the ICU
• Philips hard-wired cardiac monitors in each patient room with a central monitoring station
• Manages all typical ICU drips, vasopressors, and ventilator patients; 6 vents available in-house
• Charting via Epic EMR
• 12-hour night shifts (1845–0715)
• Every-other-weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday)
• Floating outside the ICU is not required unless the nurse is comfortable; occasional MedSurg float possible
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and NIHSS
• A copy of an unexpired driver's license is required for consideration
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• 1–2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor provided
• Both a Hospitalist and Intensivist are in-house 7 days/week; an NP is in-house from 1900–0700 nightly
• RT and pharmacy support available; pharmacist on-site 8 hours daily with Pyxis access and remote pharmacist backup
• Travelers must integrate into the permanent staff holiday rotation
• No specific scrub color requirement
• Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before applying; this is cumulative across all WVU facilities
• Former permanent staff of this facility are not eligible to return as travelers
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than one cumulative year before a 2-year break is required
