Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 13-week Obstetrics (L&D/PP/MB) night shift assignment in Illinois, requiring NRP certification and at least 2 years of OB experience.

Details

• Acute care OB unit with 3 Labor & Delivery rooms, 1 OB-specific OR, 4 triage beds, and 7 postpartum beds
• Averages approximately 300 births per year and follows AWHONN staffing guidelines
• Patient population includes common OB diagnoses such as preeclampsia, gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, fetal growth restriction, and large for gestational age
• RNs are responsible for reading fetal strips via Cerner's electronic fetal monitoring (EFM) system
• Respiratory support equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP is available on the unit
• 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a) with a flexible schedule
• Requires working 2 weekends per month and holiday shifts
• No on-call responsibilities for travelers
• Floating to assist other departments may be required as needed
• Charting is done in Cerner

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS and NRP
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Experience in labor & delivery, newborn nursery, and postpartum care required
• Must be proficient in titrating magnesium sulfate and Pitocin
• Cerner experience preferred

• Provide comprehensive obstetric nursing care across labor & delivery, postpartum, and mother-baby settings
• Unit is supported by a charge nurse and house supervisor; no 24/7 in-house OB or neonatologist on site
• Unit-specific onboarding and orientation are provided
• Scrubs are provided: black shoes, black pants, and a purple scrub top are required
• Holiday shift coverage is required
