Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN - CVOR for a cardiovascular-focused OR position at a Level II Trauma Center in Montgomery, AL, requiring prior open heart and CVOR experience.
Details
- Work in a 15-bed surgical unit with 2 dedicated CVOR suites at a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
- Patient population includes open heart procedures such as CABG, TAVR, AVR, MVR, sternotomy, thoracotomy/thoracoscopy, VATS, and ECMO, with minimal pediatric cases (typically orthopedic)
- Additional case types include trauma, neuro, general, vascular (including endovascular), ENT, ortho spine, total joints, GYN, urology, robotics, plastics, breast, and eye procedures
- 1:1 patient ratio
- RN role is circulator only
- 8-hour day shifts starting at 6:00 AM, 40 hours per week
- Weekend on-call rotation required: 1 weekday per week and one weekend per month (Friday 3PM–7AM, Saturday 24 hours, Sunday 24 hours), approximately 10 call days per month
- 30-minute on-call response time required
- No floating required
- EMR: Cerner (required)
- Equipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors
Requirements
- Active AL RN license or compact RN license required
- Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
- Minimum 2 years of CVOR/OR experience required; candidates with only 1 year of experience will not be considered
- Hands-on CVOR experience required, including open heart, CABG, TAVR, AVR, MVR, sternotomy, thoracotomy/thoracoscopy, VATS, and ECMO
- Strong experience across multiple OR service lines including trauma (no burns), neuro, general, vascular, ENT, ortho spine, total joints, GYN, urology, robotics, plastics, breast, and eye cases
- Total joint experience required
- Robotic experience preferred (Mazor/DaVinci XI)
- Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible
- One professional reference from a charge nurse or above from within the past 12 months required for consideration
- DOB (day and month) and full SSN required for consideration
- Copy of current certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Circulate across CVOR and a broad range of OR service lines
- Unit support includes an ORA, desk assistant, charge nurse, and team leaders for each service line
- Orientation is 2 weeks on day shift; buddy call is expected during the orientation period
- Former permanent staff must wait 6 months before being considered for a traveler position
- One holiday shift required per contract
- First-time travelers with at least 2 years of experience are welcome to apply
