Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center in Tuscaloosa, AL, requiring at least 2 years of experience including 1 year of recent ED specialty experience.

Details

• Works in a 54-bed Emergency Department at a state-designated Level III Trauma Center and Level II Stroke Center
• ED treats more than 60,000 patients per year and serves all age groups
• Nurse-to-patient ratio ranges from 1:1 for critical/trauma patients to 1:3-4 for all other patients
• ED team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff
• 12-hour mid shifts, 3:00 PM – 3:00 AM
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Floating to other units and hospitals is required
• EMR: Meditech (experience not required)
• 36 or 48 hours per week available

Requirements

• Active AL state RN license or Compact RN license required; no temporary or pending licenses accepted
• No hits on license (past or current) allowed
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year of recent ED specialty experience; candidates with 18 months of total experience working under the highest level of professional license may be considered
• Associate degree in nursing (ADN) required
• Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Scale, and SECURE (on-site)
• Two professional references from within the last year required for consideration
• Current driver's license required for consideration
• Full SSN required for consideration
• NURSYS license verification required for consideration

• Provide emergency nursing care to a diverse patient population including critical, trauma, and general ED patients
• ED is staffed 24/7 by a highly trained, multidisciplinary team
• All ED RNs are required to complete an on-site skills test in addition to an online pre-test prior to starting
• A Cardiac Exam will be administered as part of the evaluation process after offer acceptance
• Virtual orientation is provided and includes competency-based modules; no HealthStream modules required prior to start
• Scrub color requirement: solid navy
• Timekeeping system: Centricity
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rates with no radius restrictions
