Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) night shift position in Reno, NV, requiring a minimum of 2 years of IMC/stepdown experience and an active NV RN license.

Details

• 18-bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) within a large, 800-bed Level II Trauma Center and Stroke-accredited hospital
• Patient population includes general medical disease processes such as post ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, sepsis, cardiac, and respiratory conditions
• Patients require moderately complex assessments, moderately intensive therapies, and moderate levels of nursing vigilance
• Shift: 3x12 nights, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Floating to other units required up to the traveler's competency level
• No on-call requirements
• Schedule may include weekends and holidays based on department needs
• Epic EMR used; training provided during orientation or candidate may test out
• Kronos used for time keeping

Requirements

• Active NV RN license required prior to start date; RNs who have never held a NV temp or permanent license may still apply but must apply for licensure immediately upon offer
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/stepdown experience required
• Experience with vasopressors, titratable drips, arterial lines, neuro-stepdown patients, procedural sedation, thrombolytics, and trach management required
• Medical/Neuro ICU experience preferred
• Must pass an ECG/telemetry exam (rhythm strip reading and interpretation) — failure results in contract termination
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

• Provides comprehensive nursing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinates care across a multidisciplinary team in a collaborative, patient-centered environment
• Fast-paced, high-volume environment comparable to a Level I trauma center, serving a 500-mile regional radius
• Travelers must be available to work at least 2 of the 3 major holidays (Eve + Day counts as 1 holiday)
• Travelers are required to pick up one additional shift per 4-week schedule period
• No blocked scheduling allowed
• Travelers who have previously worked at this facility must take a 13-week break after their contract ends before returning
• Any requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at the time of submission; time is not added to the end of the contract to compensate for RTO
