Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Emergency Department RN for a Level 1 Trauma center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience and an active WV or Compact RN license.

Details

• Emergency Department (ED) at a Level 1 Trauma facility with 24 beds
• Patient population spans infants to geriatrics, with a high volume of neurological, orthopedic, psychiatric, and renal emergencies, with a special focus on trauma
• High psychiatric patient population with no separate psych area; expect to care for multiple high-acuity boarding patients
• Patient ratio is 4:1
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7p–7a on weekdays
• Every other weekend is required
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending WV/Compact RN license may be considered but must have an active license in hand prior to starting
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and CPI (CPI can be obtained through Qualivis and must be completed more than 1 week before start date)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with at least 1 year of ED-specific experience
• Proficiency in IV insertion and telemetry monitoring required
• Driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
• Two manager or charge nurse references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided they meet the experience requirements
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; those residing between 75–99 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Former permanent employees of this facility are not eligible to return as travelers until 2 years after their last date of permanent employment
• COVID-19 vaccination status must be disclosed; unvaccinated candidates must obtain facility-approved exemption prior to consideration, which may take 7–10 days
• Flu vaccination is required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); exceptions are only granted with documented medical allergy confirmed by an allergist or physician of record
• Blocked schedule requests may be possible — discuss availability during the interview process
• Orientation is held every other Thursday
