Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency, working day shifts in a 42-bed unit.

Details

• 42-bed Medical-Surgical unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults to geriatrics with primarily post-surgical cases, including ortho, urology, colorectal, bariatrics, neurology, and general surgery patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Epic (required) and Pyxis utilized on the unit; SBAR communication protocol in use
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
• No on-call requirements specified
• RTO is capped at 7 days and may not be requested during the first week of the assignment; Spring Break (April 4–12) is a blackout period for RTO

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Epic experience required
• Certifications must be available for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage policy: if 1 or 2 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO permitted; if 3 major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must be available for 2, with 1 holiday RTO request eligible for review — major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• Travelers must be away from all facilities within this health system for a full year before returning as a traveler
• No schedule change requests or alternate shift requests are accepted; the listed shift is firm
• Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Travelers with prior history at any facility within this health system should disclose that history
