Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, OCN certification, and Epic proficiency.
Details
- Hospital-based Medical Surgical Oncology unit with 19 beds and an average daily census of 15
- Adult to geriatric patient population with oncology and hematology diagnoses, including DNR/comfort care and oncologic emergencies
- Procedures and care include chemo precautions, morphine drips, Dilaudid drips, CADD pumps, and PCA pumps
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
- Epic EMR required; also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required within the facility and possibly to a sister campus approximately 3 miles from the main campus
- No on-call requirements
Requirements
- Active GA or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and OCN certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration
- Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are accepted
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RTO maximum of 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
- Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work two of them — major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
- No RTO is permitted during Spring Break (April 6–12)
- No special scheduling requests or shift changes are permitted
- Travelers must have been away from all Piedmont facilities for a minimum of one full year before returning as a traveler
