Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, OCN certification, and Epic proficiency on a 14-week night shift contract.

Details

• 19-bed Medical Surgical Oncology unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults through geriatrics with oncology and hematology diagnoses, including DNR/CC and oncologic emergencies
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 with an average daily census of 15
• Procedures and care include chemo precautions, morphine drips, dilaudid drips, CADD pumps, and PCA pumps
• EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
• Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:00
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required within the facility and possibly to a satellite campus approximately 3 miles from the main campus
• No on-call requirements

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS and OCN certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Oncology and hematology nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Copies of all required certifications must be provided for consideration
• Two supervisory references (manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration

• Local candidates are accepted
• RTO is capped at 7 days; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
• Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, travelers must work two and may request one holiday off
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday (counted as one), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day (counted as one), and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day (counted as one)
• No schedule change requests or alternate shift requests are permitted; the posted night shift is firm
• Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least one full year before returning as a traveler
• Navy blue scrubs required
