Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical Surgical ICU position requiring Epic experience and at least 1 year of ICU experience, with first-time travelers welcome.

Details

  • Medical Surgical ICU setting in a hospital environment
  • Adult to geriatric patient population
  • Patient diagnoses include sepsis/septic shock, respiratory failure, post-cardiac arrest, GI bleed/hemorrhagic shock, DKA, acute kidney disease, complicated surgical cases, pulmonary edema/embolism, drug overdose, hypertensive emergencies, cardiac arrhythmias, rhabdomyolysis, metabolic encephalopathy, and malignant neoplasms
  • Specialized procedures and therapies include CRRT, TTM, chest tubes, bronchoscopies, lumbar punctures, I&Ds, central line insertion assistance, central/arterial line maintenance, peritoneal dialysis, continuous bladder irrigation, and continuous IV infusions (pressors, paralytics, sedatives, cardiac drips)
  • 15-bed unit with 13 rooms and an average daily census of 12
  • Patient ratio is 1:2–3
  • EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:00)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • 12-week contract

Requirements

  • Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Copies of required certifications must be provided for consideration
  • Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • RTO maximum is 7 days for the contract; RTO cannot be requested during the first week of the assignment
  • Spring Break (April 4–12) is an RTO blackout period
  • Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them with no holiday RTO allowed; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two, with one holiday RTO request eligible for review
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
  • Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for a minimum of one full year before returning as a traveler
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • No alternate shift or schedule change requests are permitted; the posted day shift is firm
  • Travel pairs will not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
