Description

American Traveler is seeking a chemo-certified Oncology RN with ONS certification and active OH or compact RN license for a night shift Med/Surg Hematology Oncology position.

Details

• Hospital-based Hematology Oncology Med/Surg unit
• Patient population includes lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute and chronic leukemias, sickle cell disease, other non-hematologic cancers, and benign hematology conditions
• Target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with potential for 1:5 based on unit needs
• Shift schedule is nights, 3x12 hours (19:00–07:30)
• If accepting a 12D/N rotating contract, shift assignments (days, nights, or a combination) are determined by department needs and reviewed each 4-week scheduling period
• Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
• Self-scheduling requests are submitted for consideration prior to the final schedule being posted
• Floating required to other Med/Surg and Oncology units
• Procedures include chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, insulin drips, heparin drips, and management of oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome and cytokine release syndrome
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Charting performed in Epic

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) certification
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias required
• Med/Surg and telemetry nursing experience required
• Proficiency in IV therapy and phlebotomy, including peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, central line blood draws, and starting IVs
• Experience with blood product administration required
• Experience with feeding tube care and management required
• Familiarity with Rapid Response Team protocols required
• Epic EMR experience required

Additional Information

• Orientation begins with the first week Mon–Fri on day shift, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• Candidates may change representation without a required break between assignments (except Sterile Processing Techs, who require a 30-day break)
• All time-off and scheduling requests should be submitted at the time of initial application
• 2 professional supervisor references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration
• A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
