Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU/IMC) position requiring telemetry experience and the ability to titrate drips in an acute care hospital setting.

Details

• Work in a 30-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU/IMC) within an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population includes cardiac, NSTEMI, post-cath lab, AFib, CHF, GI bleed, detox, respiratory distress, and sepsis
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, which may stretch to 1:5 during sick calls or with added CNA support
• CNAs are present on the unit at a ratio of approximately 1:10–12 depending on census
• RNs are required to titrate drips including nitro, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone
• Experience with IV nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, and amiodarone management is required; post-cath lab experience is beneficial and arterial line experience is appreciated but not required
• Respiratory therapy equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, and Optiflow
• Telemetry techs are present on the unit and read strips; GE telemetry monitors are used
• Charge RNs take a reduced assignment of 2 patients
• EMR is Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
• 12-hour variable day and night shifts (7a–7p and 7p–7a); no self-scheduling
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• On-call/standby requirement in place
• Floating may be required to Med-Surg or IMC overflow in ICU
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WI or Compact RN license required by start date
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and EKG Course
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Telemetry and progressive care experience required
• Experience managing titratable drips (nitro, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, amiodarone) required
• 2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant experience

Additional Information

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Unit-specific orientation is up to 3 days
• Candidates who previously worked for this health system as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect pay package structure
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating every-other-holiday basis
