Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg position in Alexandria, LA, with a focus on post-surgical and neuro patient populations.

Details

• Acute Med/Surg unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes post-surgical patients (orthopedics, general surgery) and neuro populations
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekends may be required based on scheduling needs
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to other units is a possibility
• Epic EMR experience is a bonus but not required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active RN license in Louisiana or a Compact state currently in hand
• Current BLS certification from the AHA required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience
• US Social Security Number required for consideration
• Two professional references required for consideration
• Current primary source license verification (Nursys) required for consideration
• Copies of all active certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provides routine and complex nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol and monitors for side effects and effectiveness
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers
• Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
• BSN is preferred but not required
