Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift travel contract at a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke Center of Excellence hospital in Concord, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • 40-bed ICU within a 457-bed hospital designated as a Level 3 Trauma Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center
  • Patient population includes ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy patients, opti-flow, BiPAP, overdose, CRRT, GI bleed, and trauma patients
  • Patient ratios: 1:1–3
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
  • Floating required within Region 1 (Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH pediatrics) — candidates unwilling to float to all facilities within the region should not apply
  • EMR: Epic
  • IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
  • Unit-specific equipment includes Arctic Sun, Hemosphere, Belmont rapid transfuser, and Life Flow
  • Telemetry monitoring via hardwire monitors and travel tele boxes

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • General ICU skillset required: critical care drip management (insulin, vasopressors, sedation), invasive line management (arterial lines, CVP), cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tube care, ventilator management, blood product administration, and wound care
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being considered
  • Unit is supported by CNAs, a 24/7 charge nurse, Respiratory Therapy, Hospitalist, and Intensivist; there is no HUC/receptionist on the unit
  • RNs are responsible for phlebotomy, with limited hospital-level phlebotomy support available
  • Orientation includes facility NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any contracted hours not met must be made up by extending the contract
  • Navy scrubs required
  • Free designated parking is available on-site
  • Strong team culture on both day and night shifts
