Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry (MS/Tele) position on a medical oncology unit, requiring at least 2 years of RN experience and telemetry skills.

Details

• Inpatient medical oncology unit (MS/Tele) within a cancer hospital and research setting
• Cares for adult and geriatric patients across all solid tumor cancer types, including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, esophageal cancers, and patients receiving antineoplastic chemotherapy
• Unit supports patients throughout the full cancer journey — from new diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life transition
• Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Target staffing ratio is 1:4, with the possibility of 1:5 based on unit needs
• Rotating Day/Night shifts (3x12-hour shifts), with scheduling based on department priorities assessed every 4-week period
• Day shift hours: 7:00–19:30; Night shift hours: 19:00–7:30
• Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
• Self-scheduling requests are submitted for consideration before the final schedule is posted
• Floating required to other Med/Surg Oncology units
• Documents Epic EMR for charting

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or a Compact RN license currently in hand
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Oncology nursing experience preferred but not required
• ONS Chemotherapy certification (ONS Chemo) preferred

Additional Information

• Orientation begins with one week of Mon–Fri day shift training, followed by a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
• Candidates who have previously worked at this facility (OSU Wexner) do not require a 30-day break between assignments to change representation
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years are required for consideration
• A full 7-year work history with all gaps explained is required for consideration
• Any time off or scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration
