Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Main Operating Room night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level 1 or 2 Trauma experience and both scrub and circulator skills.

Details

  • Main OR setting within a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center, also designated as a Level 2 Stroke Center
  • OR suite includes 22 main OR rooms, 8 ASC rooms, and 10 ortho rooms
  • Patient population ranges from outpatient to critical care inpatient
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Equipment includes various surgical instrumentation and the da Vinci robotic surgical system
  • EMR: Epic
  • Night shift schedule, 4x10-hour shifts, hours between 19:00–07:00
  • On-call required on any scheduled day, averaging 5 or fewer call shifts per 8 weeks
  • Weekend hours as required by facility
  • Floating required as needed by facility
  • 13-week assignment

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Missouri or a Compact license that meets Missouri eligibility requirements
  • Current BLS certification from AHA required
  • Minimum 2 years of OR experience in a Level 1 or 2 Trauma setting; teaching hospital experience may be considered
  • Experience as both a scrub tech and OR circulator required
  • U.S. Social Security Number required; Canadian SINs are not accepted
  • No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • Performs direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation across all age groups
  • Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize care and comfort
  • Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, lifting and pushing patients on stretchers and wheelchairs, and the ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs and pinch up to 15 lbs
  • Night shift orientation takes place on day shift; candidates must be available the entire orientation week
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility; jeans and unprofessional attire are not permitted
  • Additional dress code details are covered during orientation
  • Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted
  • Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
  • Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced bill rate
  • Local candidates (within 50 miles) are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts at this facility before a 1-year separation or relocation outside the radius is required
  • Preferred candidates will have Level 1 trauma experience with multiple years in the OR specialty
