Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU/Stepdown position on a 16-bed intermediate care unit, requiring ACLS, NIH certification, and night shift availability with every-other-weekend rotation.

Details

• PCU/Stepdown unit (8S - OBS/Intermediate Care) in a hospital setting
• 16-bed unit with a patient ratio of 1:4-5, with high admission, discharge, and patient turnover
• Patient population includes chest pain, heart cath, TIA, R/O stroke, seizures, outpatient surgery, intermediate/telemetry, some med-surg, and intermittent neuro spine post-op patients
• Equipment used includes central lines, wound vacs, hemovacs, JP drains, feeding tubes, and oxygen modalities including intermittent BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula (no trachs)
• Cardiac drips may be initiated pending patient transfer; pre/post cath experience is utilized on this unit
• 12-hour night shifts, every-other-weekend (EOW), and every-other-holiday (EOH) rotation required
• Epic EHR is used on this unit
• Adult and geriatric patient population (ages 18 and older)

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• PCU, stepdown, or intermediate care nursing experience required
• Pre/post cardiac catheterization experience required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates
• Proof of address required for consideration (e.g., driver's license, voter registration card, federal tax return, W2, or military form)
• Full SSN and DOB (MM/DD) required for consideration
• 1 supervisory reference required
• Nursys license verification required
• Copy of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• A pass/fail EKG/dysrhythmia exam is required on the first day of the assignment; candidates have two attempts to pass, and a study guide will be provided
• Charge nurse coverage is intermittent on day shifts and not available on night shifts; PCA support may be available depending on staffing
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• BSN is preferred but not required
• Epic EHR experience is preferred
• CCRN or PCCN certification is preferred
