Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel Occupational Therapist with at least 3 years of experience for an acute rehab unit position with a Med/Surg split at a hospital in the Hampton Roads, VA area.

Details

• 23-bed Acute Rehabilitation Unit with a Med/Surg split component
• Patient population includes stroke, amputee, hip fracture, and general medical patients
• Day shift, 8-hour shifts with rotating weekends
• Support staff includes 2 rehab techs supporting the PT/OT/ST team, 1 PPS coordinator, 1 social worker, 2 referral liaisons, and 1 admin assistant

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of OT experience required; 5 years preferred
• At least 1 year of travel experience required; 2 years preferred
• Graduate of a Master's degree program or qualified Bachelor's degree program approved by ACOTE in collaboration with AOTA
• Current, active OT state license — VA license in hand highly preferred; license required if applicable
• Current BLS certification required
• Experience working with adult and geriatric populations desirable
• Acute care setting experience desirable
• Proof of address and a supervisory reference required for consideration
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• Conduct initial assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide age-appropriate therapeutic interventions
• Document patient care, progress, and continuing treatment needs in the electronic medical record
• Provide patient and family education to support continued functional independence
• Participate in discharge planning as part of the interdisciplinary team
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including PT, OT, and ST colleagues
• Pass/fail EKG test administered on the first day with 2 attempts allowed; study guides will be provided
• Local candidates are accepted; candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
• Manager interviews candidates following clinical review, which may delay the offer process
