Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ER/Med-Surg Swing position at an acute care facility in Minnesota, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ER experience and a rotating day/night schedule.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting with a combined ER and Med-Surg Swing unit
• Level IV Trauma Center, STEMI receiving facility, and designated Stroke Center
• ER has 4 patient beds and 2 trauma bays; average daily ER volume is approximately 10 patients
• ER holds are intermixed within the ER; separate psych/seclusion rooms are available
• No fast track or separate triage area
• Charting system: Point Click Care (PCC)
• Mindray telemetry monitors in use; RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips
• Lab draws performed by lab staff
• 12-hour shifts rotating days and nights (7a–7p and 7p–7a), 3x12s per week
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Holiday coverage required if it falls within the scheduled block
• Floating required to Med-Surg and Swing Bed, which are on the same unit
• Block scheduling will be considered

Requirements

• Active MN RN license (state or compact/NLC) — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Required certifications (all must be active): BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC; PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience required
• Previous Med-Surg experience required
• Ability to independently read and interpret telemetry strips
• Driver's license required for consideration
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position

Additional Information

• RNs are responsible for managing RT equipment (vents, CPAP, BiPap, high flow) as needed; no dedicated RT in the ER
• A charge nurse is present on each shift and takes a patient assignment
• Nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, and patient sitters are available on an on-call basis
• No in-house security on a 24/7 basis
• Orientation consists of one 12-hour shift
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
• All requested time off must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after the process begins
• No call or standby requirement
