Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PCU/IMC (Progressive Care Unit) position at an acute care hospital in Weston, WI, requiring telemetry experience and the ability to titrate drips.

Details

• Acute care hospital PCU/IMC (Progressive Care/Intermediate Care) unit with 30 beds
• Patient population includes cardiac, NSTEMI, post cath lab, afib, CHF, GI bleed, detox, respiratory distress, and sepsis
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, may stretch to 1:5 with sick call or added CNA support
• CNAs on unit at a ratio of 1:10-12 depending on census; charge RNs carry a reduced assignment of 2 patients
• RNs are required to titrate drips; common titratable drips include nitro, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone
• RT equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, and Optiflow
• Telemetry techs are on unit and read strips; GE monitors are used
• Charting system is Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
• 12-hour shifts, variable days and nights (7a–7p / 7p–7a); no self-scheduling
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• Floating required to MS or IMC overflow in ICU
• On-call/standby requirement exists
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or compact RN license (must be active by start date)
• Current AHA certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Completed EKG course required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience managing IV drips including nitro, heparin, diltiazem, and amiodarone required
• Post cath lab experience beneficial but not required
• Art line experience appreciated but not required
• 2 professional references required: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant specialty experience

• Scrub color: navy blue
• Unit orientation is up to 3 days
• Candidates who previously worked for this health system as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to being considered; hospital approval is also required
• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced travel pay rate
• BSN is not required for this position
