Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Med/Surg (Acute Care) night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of hospital med/surg experience and at least one prior travel contract.

Details

• Acute care med/surg unit in a hospital setting with 36 beds
• Common patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, ESRD, pneumonia, renal failure, sickle cell crisis, orthopedic surgery, bariatric surgery, AMS, and sepsis
• Telemetry monitoring is present on the unit; nurses are not required to read strips
• Patient ratios: 6:1 (RN/LPN) and 12:1 (CNA)
• Hospitalist is in-house 24/7; Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• No IV team on unit; PICC team available for consultation
• Charge nurse and nurse aides are present on the unit
• EMR: MEDITECH (experience preferred)
• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required
• Occasional floating required
• 17-week contract

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of hospital med/surg experience required
• At least 1 prior travel contract required
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility (measured from the address on the candidate's driver's license) to be eligible for placement

Additional Information

• Floor-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts (16 orientation hours total)
• Scrub colors: white tops and hunter green pants
• Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement
• Any time-off or scheduling requests must be submitted prior to the start of the assignment
• First-time travelers are not eligible; at least one prior travel contract is required
