Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 17-week Oncology (Med/Surg) travel contract, requiring a minimum of 2 years of acute care Med/Surg experience and at least one prior completed travel contract.
Details
- Inpatient 7th floor Oncology unit in an acute care hospital setting
- 29-bed unit with a typical patient ratio of 1:5, occasionally 1:6
- Patient population includes acute oncology symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology, medical overflow, oncology, and end-of-life care
- Occasional late-running outpatient oncology patients may be transferred to the floor to complete treatment
- Telemetry monitoring available via central monitor; strip-reading not required
- Charting via MEDITECH
- 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday rotation shared with staff
- Floating required rarely, and only to medical acute units
- 17-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license in Georgia (GA) or a compact state license valid in GA
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- ONS chemotherapy certification required if candidate will be administering chemotherapy
- Minimum 2 years of acute care Med/Surg experience required
- Oncology specialty experience required
- At least one successfully completed travel nursing contract required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- A copy of your driver's license is required for consideration
Additional Information
- Scrub color required: Caribbean Blue
- Charge nurse is staffed outside of the patient care grid under normal circumstances
- Nurse aides available, typically 3 per shift
- Floor-specific orientation is 3 days (16 orientation hours total)
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
- Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible
- Any time-off requests must be disclosed and approved at the time of assignment confirmation
