Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Oncology position at an acute care hospital in Georgia, requiring a GA or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of oncology experience.
Details
- Inpatient oncology unit (7th floor) in an acute care hospital setting
- 29-bed oncology unit serving patients with acute oncology symptoms including thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, hematology conditions, and end-of-life care; also receives medical overflow patients
- Outpatient oncology patients may be transferred to the floor to complete treatment when the outpatient area closes
- Patient ratio is 1:5, occasionally 1:6
- Charge nurse is typically staffed outside the grid; nurse aides are generally available (3 per day)
- Telemetry monitoring is available via central monitor; ability to read strips is not required
- EMR: MEDITECH
- 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday rotation with staff required
- Floating is rare but may occur to a medical acute unit
- 17-week contract
Requirements
- Active GA RN license or compact RN license (currently in hand)
- Current BLS certification (AHA required)
- NIHSS certification preferred; ONS certification required if performing chemotherapy administration
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience required
- A copy of your driver's license is required for consideration
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for placement
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Candidates who have been employed by this facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placement
- Floor-specific orientation is 3 days (16 orientation hours total)
- Scrub color required: Caribbean Blue
- Time-off requests are only honored if submitted and confirmed prior to the start of the assignment
- Travelers will only work on the inpatient floor, not in the outpatient area
