Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and an active MO or Compact RN license.
Details
- Night shift position, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
- Patient ratio of 1:2
- ICU unit within a large short-term acute care hospital (1,259 staffed beds)
- Patient population includes respiratory failure/ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis
- Unit serves pre- and post-op cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgery patients, medicine and neuro-medicine overflow, pre- and post-transplant patients, and end-of-life/organ donation cases
- Specialized equipment includes IV pumps/titration, CRRT/dialysis, ventilator/BiPAP, hemodynamic/invasive monitoring, and defibrillator/crash cart
- Charting is done in Epic; prior Epic experience is required
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within the service line to other ICU units is required as needed
- No on-call responsibilities
- Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
- Active MO RN license or Compact RN license required; pending IL license may be considered (must be noted at time of consideration)
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Medical and surgical ICU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Required clinical skills include: interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management, 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition, CVP and pulmonary artery (Swan-Ganz) monitoring, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, CRRT/chronic and acute renal failure management, blood product administration, continuous IV sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVA/acute stroke management, BiPAP management, ventilator management and care of ventilated patients, ABG interpretation, respiratory failure management, ETT/NT suctioning, infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE use, phlebotomy, and surgical wound/wound vac care
- Candidate's home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Scrub color is navy
- RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
- Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may remain for a maximum of 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
- Monthly parking passes are available; candidates may contact Public Safety at for details
- Holiday and charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit
