Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical-Surgical unit position requiring at least 2 years of experience and Epic proficiency, with a 4x12 day shift schedule.

Details

• Hospital Medical-Surgical unit with 42 beds
• Patient population includes adults through geriatrics, with a focus on post-surgical patients including orthopedic, urology, colorectal, bariatric, neurological, and general surgery cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• EMR: Epic (required); also uses Pyxis and SBAR communication framework
• Day shift, 4x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within the facility and scope of practice as needed
• RTO blackout period observed during Spring Break (April 4–12)

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required
• Epic proficiency required
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position

Additional Information

• Navy blue scrubs required
• RTO is capped at 7 days for the duration of the assignment; RTO cannot be requested during the first week
• Holiday coverage policy: if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work all of them; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of them — major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day
• No special scheduling requests, alternate shifts, or schedule changes are permitted — the listed shift is firm
• Travelers must have been away from all facilities within this health system for at least one full year before returning as a traveler
• Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurses not accepted) are highly preferred
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
