Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Stepdown position at an academic medical center in Ohio, requiring 2 years of progressive care experience and active Ohio or Compact RN licensure.

Details

• Mixed acuity PCU/Stepdown unit (17 North) with 32 beds and an average daily census of 25–32 patients
• Patient population includes a variety of medical diagnoses as well as pre- and post-surgical patients requiring PCU-level care
• Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (3x12-hour shifts)
• 36 hours per week with every other weekend required
• Floating within the health system organization is required
• On-call responsibilities are required

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent progressive care or PCU/Stepdown experience required
• Experience with similar PCU/Stepdown patient populations required
• Preferred skills include telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response/code team participation, IV therapy, blood product administration, central line and PICC care, heparin protocols, respiratory support, wound care, and pre/post-surgical patient care
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

• Academic/teaching hospital — teaching hospital experience is welcomed

• Scrub color and dress code details will be provided at orientation
• No mandatory break between assignments is required when changing representation at this facility (except for Sterile Processing Techs, who require a 30-day break)
