Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position at a Level 3 Trauma, Stroke Center of Excellence facility in Concord, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and the ability to float within a regional hospital network.

Details

  • 40-bed ICU unit within a 457-bed Level 3 Trauma and Stroke Center of Excellence hospital
  • Patient population includes ventilated patients, stroke and thrombectomy patients, opti-flow, BiPAP, overdose, CRRT, GI bleed, and some trauma patients
  • Patient ratio is 1:1–3
  • Common skills include critical care drips (insulin, vasopressors, sedation), invasive line management (ART/CVP), cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, ventilator management, blood products, and wound care
  • EMR: Epic
  • Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, Arctic Sun, Hemosphere, Belmont rapid transfuser, and life flow
  • Hardwire monitors and travel telemetry boxes used for monitoring
  • 12-hour day shifts, 7a–7p, 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating is required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and Central Division facilities (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH — peds only); candidates who are not agreeable to floating should not apply
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Epic EMR experience
  • Proficiency in critical care drips, invasive line management, ventilator management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation required
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • Must provide last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth for consideration
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Unit support includes CNAs, a charge nurse (24/7), Respiratory Therapy (24/7), Hospitalist (24/7), and Intensivist (24/7); there is no HUC/Receptionist on the unit
  • RNs are responsible for phlebotomy, with limited hospital-wide phlebotomy support available
  • An IV/VAT team is available for support
  • Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; additional time must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met
  • Scrub color: Navy
  • Free designated parking is available on site
  • Unit culture is described as highly collaborative on both day and night shifts
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates who have worked a permanent position at any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
