Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) night shift position in Springfield, MO, requiring a minimum of 2 years of PICU experience and ventilator competency.
Details
- 12-bed Pediatric ICU unit within a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center hospital
- Patient population includes trauma, burn, neurosurgery, pediatric surgery, respiratory, sepsis, endocrinology, chronic/trach, hematology/oncology, and orthopedic cases
- Patient ratios: 2:1 for ICU status, 1:1 for intubated patients, and 3:1 for peds status
- Night shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week assignment with 36 hours per week
- Weekends required as determined by facility needs
- No on-call requirements
- Floating required to NICU, PICU, Pediatric Medical Floor, or Peds ED based on patient volumes
- EMR: Epic
Requirements
- Active RN license — must hold or be eligible for licensure in Missouri (MO license or Compact license qualifying for MO)
- Current BLS and PALS certifications (AHA only) required
- TNCC certification required
- Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
- Ventilator competency required
- Minimum 1 year of post-orientation experience required
- No employment gaps of 90 or more days within the past 12 months
- Valid U.S. Social Security Number required (Canadian SINs not accepted)
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care across all age groups
- Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes
- Night shift nurses orient on day shift and must be available for the entire orientation week
- Physical demands include standing and walking for most of the shift, lifting and pushing patients, and the ability to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs and pinch up to 15 lbs
- Black scrubs required; jeans and unprofessional attire are not permitted
- Flu vaccination or a Mercy-approved exemption is required for travelers working November 1 through April 1 — declinations are not accepted
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed but must be made up during the assignment
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are eligible but subject to a reduced bill rate
- Locals within 50 miles are limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before a 1-year separation or reassignment to a facility outside the 50-mile radius is required
