Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Stepdown/Med-Surg unit position requiring at least 2 years of experience, telemetry strip reading proficiency, and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care stepdown and med-surg unit in a hospital setting
• 34-bed unit serving a general med-surg stepdown patient population
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 for stepdown and 1:5-6 for floor assignments
• RNs are required to titrate drips
• Telemetry monitoring in use; telemetry techs post strips each shift, but RNs must be proficient in reading and interpreting cardiac strips independently
• Respiratory therapy is in-house 24/7; ventilators are present on the unit
• Charge nurse and transport RN available during day shift (7a–7:30p) at optimal staffing; 2–5 care aides typically on unit
• Charting performed in Epic
• 12-hour night shifts, 7p–7:30a
• Weekend work required (frequency not specified)
• Floating to other areas may be required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current BLS certification required
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting telemetry/cardiac strips required
• Experience titrating drips required
• Driver's license with an address more than 50 miles from the facility required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

• Royal blue scrubs required
• Holiday coverage required (frequency not specified)
• COVID vaccination required; medical or religious exemption requests must be submitted and approved through the facility's exemption process
• Candidates must not have worked at any WVU Medicine location within the past 2 years
• Travelers who have worked within the WVU system for a cumulative total of one year must take a 2-year break before returning (cumulative experience applies)
• Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
