Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Long-Term Care position at a nursing home attached to a hospital, requiring at least 1 year of experience with an elderly population and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Post-acute care setting within a nursing home attached to a hospital, with 70 beds (majority private rooms)
• Long-term care patient population including dementia, frail elderly, and rehabilitation patients
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:20
• IVs and clinical skills such as catheterization and ostomy care are regularly performed
• EMR system is ECS (transitioning from Cerner to Epic)
• 12-hour day shifts on a block schedule
• Every other weekend required
• Floating is required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience working with elderly patients required
• IV experience required
• 2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include charting, patient assessments, charge nurse duties, medication administration, and clinical skills such as IVs, catheters, and ostomy care
• Interdisciplinary team includes therapy, administration, social workers, activities, dietary, housekeeping, and RT (on-site 24/7)
• On-site pharmacy and medication dispensing system available
• Physician available after hours
• DON, charge nurse, and house supervisor support on-site
• Must be available for at least half of holidays during the assignment
• Any solid color scrubs required; clean and professional appearance expected
• Orientation length varies based on individual skill level
• Candidates who have previously worked for this health system must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced pay rate
