Description

American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for a Long-Term Care position at a nursing home attached to a hospital, requiring at least 1 year of experience with an elderly population and a valid WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Post-acute care setting in a nursing home attached to a hospital with 70 beds, majority private rooms
• Long-term care unit serving patients with dementia, frailty, elderly care needs, and rehabilitation
• RN-to-patient ratio of 1:20; LPN ratio 1:20; CNA ratio 1:8
• Performs clinical skills including IV therapy, catheterization, ostomy care, and medication administration
• EMR system: ECS (facility is transitioning from Cerner to Epic)
• 12-hour day shifts on a block schedule
• Every other weekend required
• Floating is required
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience working with elderly patients required
• IV therapy experience required
• 2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference within the last 3 years of relevant experience

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include charting, patient assessments, charge duties, medication administration, and clinical procedures such as IVs, catheters, and ostomy care
• Interdisciplinary team includes therapy, administration, social workers, activities, dietary, housekeeping, and respiratory therapy (on-site 24/7)
• DON, charge nurse, and house supervisor support available; physician available after hours
• On-site pharmacy and medication dispensing system available
• Must be available for at least half of holidays during the assignment
• Orientation length varies based on individual skill set (approximately 8 hours)
• Any solid color scrubs required; must be clean and professional
• Candidates who have previously worked for this health system must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their start date
• Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect the travel pay rate
