Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU Medical/Pulmonary with Renal Overflow position requiring chronic ventilator experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an acute care hospital setting
• Patient population consists of adult and geriatric patients on Hospitalist service with pulmonary and medicine-related conditions, including renal overflow
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5, with the unit able to accommodate up to two ventilated patients (non-ICU level of care)
• Remote telemetry monitoring with monitors remaining on the unit; tele-sitting technology used for patient care tech redeployment
• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• Floating within skillset is required
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active Virginia state RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Chronic ventilator care experience required (non-ICU level)
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience administering cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose Dopamine and Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Bumex, Lasix) without titration
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Experience with respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Ability to participate in Rapid Response and Code teams; experience with isolation precautions
• Two professional references required for consideration
